Audio Workshop |
| lead by VUNENY / Andrijan Zovko, Nedim Cisic, Asmir Sabic |
The aim of the workshop is to create a hybrid musical experiment consisted of both documentary and fictional sounds. It is based on the idea of producing simultaneity of the real, present day sounds deriving from documentary found footage together with new, reconstructed, imaginary sounds of past periods. The result should create a sort of audio puzzle that would implicitly refer to social and historical context of a number of past and present public spaces in Novi Sad by recreating specific sound dynamics of temporary social situations that develop around them. Through the further musical elaboration and cohesion the work process should result in a discursive and modular audio sculpture. |
The participants are expected to make a short recordings of public (deserted or not) spaces before arriving in Novi Sad (if there is possibility, it’s not obligatory).
During the first days of field work we’ll collect sounds. Together with this documentary footage a number of new, fictional Para-historic samples will be produced. |
The aim of this type of collaborative practice is to create a sort of modular acoustic sculpture that should refer both to the spatial morphology as well as social and historical background. |
| Method |
We will use recorded sounds of the public spaces in different regions from where participants come from, as well as sounds recorded in Novi Sad, combining them with instruments, or processed concrete sounds, in order to recreate ambient from the past – original “functions” of the places. |
We will use computer music software and electronic as tool for recording and editing,
and through this process we will give basic knowledge in audio production, in the same time we will go from improvisation to structured composition, also learning how to apply processors on instruments, creating “unusual”, ambiental sounds. |
People taking part to the Audio workshop will be involved in the whole process, from the idea to the final realization. |
