PHOTO WORKSHOP

The aim of the photographic workshop was not simply to make artistic photos, but let the photos become three-dimensional pieces of art.

We took pictures of peculiar details of the Turkish bath and of the abandoned old buildings nearby.
We used Photoshop to create unusual effects, like the drop-like effect for the inside roof of the Turkish bath, or to enlighten dark photos, as for the roof decoration which has become a little sun.
We chose some objects of the Turkish bath which could be perfect to become protagonists of the performance, like an old door or a ruined table.
We cut the photos in original shapes and we put them on the door together with mirrors in order to create a game of lights. We also used mirrors to create a “reflection effect” in the central part of the Turkish bath, so that people could see themselves when they were walking.
We played with the pictures of some details of the Turkish bath, like the blue hangs. We printed some of them in natural size and we put them close to the true ones, and people believed they were true! In this way people could interact with the pieces of art.
The scraped table has become a big chessboard with both mirrors and pictures, and people could try to join the different parts of the photos.
A rusty hallstand has become a place to hang photos and mirrors. Cutting the pictures as drops, rainbows and clouds, we tried to describe how changing weather can influence the perception of the same place.

The participants were not requested to be professional photographers. The only indispensable quality was having a wide imagination.
